Company 3 brand Stereo D has rebranded as SDFX Studios, evolving into a full-service visual effects business. The new name reflects its business of partnering with networks, studios, streamers, and VFX companies to create supporting visual effects for feature films, TV, and commercial work.
In addition to its stereo 3D conversion work, Stereo D has been a VFX partner to brands including Wētā FX, ILM, and Marvel Studios, as well as the parent organization, Company 3, and sister companies Framestore, Powerhouse VFX, and Encore VFX. While dimensional filmmaking will remain part of its legacy, SDFX Studios continues to provide high-volume services across the VFX spectrum for studios and filmmakers.
“The scope of our work has expanded vastly in recent years as a response to the demand from the industry as a whole,” said SDFX Studios CCO and executive VP Aaron Parry. “The content revolution has seen our talented teams working alongside partner companies and filmmakers across the VFX process. This rebrand looks to better represent this breadth of services and the talented artists and support teams.”
SDFX’s recent VFX credits include Lucasfilm’s The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian, and Marvel Studios Hawkeye, along with Shang Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings and F9 (Fast & Furious 9).
Marvel Studios VP of visual effects Danielle Costa commented, “Stereo D and Marvel Studios have been partners for over a decade. They are a trusted partner of ours, and we are excited to continue collaborating with their talented team in their next chapter as SDFX Studios.”
For SDFX Studios, Parry will oversee global leadership with SVP business development Vincent Defebo in North America and COO & MD Prafull Gade in India. In addition, Los Angeles-based producer Mark Simone and VFX supervisor Alex Guri, Toronto-based VP of production operations Chris Treichel, and India-based head of production operations Franklin Mascarenhas oversee the day-to-day operations.
“We are excited about SDFX Studios’ rebrand,” added Company 3 President and CEO Stefan Sonnenfeld. “The team is filled with expert problem solvers within the post-production field, and we’re looking forward to watching them grow across all markets.”
