The stars of the well-liked 1980s cartoon Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends are returning to the comic book world in November through Iceman #3. The trio had last appeared together in May 2014’s Amazing X-Men #7. They also had made an appearance in Spider-Man Family: Featuring Amazing Friends #1 to celebrate the cartoon’s 25th anniversary. The team had made a mark in the history with their collaborative teamwork in defeating the villains.
In this story, Iceman (Bobby Drake) goes on a blind date and fights against the evil Mr. Sinister who was created by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri. Sinister’s powers include telepathy, telekinesis, shape-shifting and regeneration to name a few. This time Bobby is not alone but accompanied by his friends, Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and Firestar (Angelica Jones), to help him in the fight.
Iceman is written by Sina Grace, art by Nathan Stockman, and cover by W. Scott Forbes. The series is a five-issue run that begins this September and will hit the stands on 7 November. “As a lifelong Spider-Man and X-Fan, I forced C.B. Cebulski to swear he wasn’t kidding when the opportunity to write a Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends team-up happened,” said the series writer Grace. “Expect me to one-up Chip Zdarsky on quips and dynamic action!”
This issue looks like to be potentially a lot of fun as it brings back the three amazing friends together, and the their union builds a strong bond of friendship that is likely to win against every evil.
