Fans of the iconic Ghostbusters films will soon be able to be a part of their favourite franchise in a new way. Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR) in collaboration with Ghost Corps. has announced that they are coming up with two virtual reality games.
Ghostbusters VR Academy is a jointly created location-based experience, published by SPVR and developed by Hologate, and will be available on all of Hologate’s ARENA and BLITZ platforms at 400+ locations by the end of 2022. The other, titled Ghostbusters VR, for the time being, will be available for play at home on Meta Quest 2 and PlayStation VR2.
The makers have released an announcement trailer for the Ghostbusters VR game. All the iconic Ghostbuster elements are being incorporated into the game. It will have supernatural settings, spooky environments, eerie feelings and helpful gadgets. The game promises to give the player a taste of what it’s like to be a real Ghostbuster.
“Ghostbusters VR Academy, the new location-based VR training experience, will continue to expand the world of Ghostbusters in a way that honours the legacy of the franchise and offers something entirely new,” said Sony Pictures SVP of VR Jake Zim. “For the first time ever, players will be able to train to be a real Ghostbuster in an amazing academy setting and race a new flying version of the ECTO using Hologate’s vehicle motion simulator. This fantasy fulfilling experience is only possible in virtual reality and with Hologate’s location-based entertainment technology.”
It doesn’t have a release date yet, but the information about the same will be revealed by the creators in the coming months.
