Sony Pictures had already rescheduled its Easter release Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway for later this year, but the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has led the production house to push back live-action/CG hybrid sequel alongwith other major movies including the new Ghostbusters sequel, Marvel antihero movie Morbius and videogame adaptation Uncharted.
The upcoming third Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man movie appears to be unaffected; the Far from Home sequel’s release date was already set as 16 July 2021. Sony’s planned July 2020 movies, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Jared Leto’s Morbius, have both been moved into next March.
The new release schedule includes:
Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (7 August) | 15 January 2021
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (10 July) | 5 March 2021
Morbius (31 July) | 19 March 2021
Uncharted (5 March 2021) | 8 October 2021
Other studios have made more cautious adjustments, with Warner Bros moving Wonder Woman 1984 to 14 August from its planned 5 June release date. Disney’s Mulan has been indefinitely delayed, while new James Bond movie No Time to Die is now set for November.
