Sony Pictures Entertainment has promoted Randy Lake to the post of President, Studio Operations and Imageworks. The entertainment company, known for the production and distribution of franchises like Spider-Man and Resident Evil, has Sony Pictures Animation within its wing which caters to the animation space. Also, Sony Pictures Imageworks is another unit of the mother company which works closely in terms of visual effects and character animation.
Randy Lake will be responsible for overseeing all operations, strategy and planning for Sony Pictures Imageworks, post production services, production services, global mastering and servicing and asset management.
Having held the position of EVP of Studio Operations and General Manager of Imageworks previously, Lake is well accustomed to the work system and projects of the parent company. Even as he takes up this new role, he will continue to report jointly to Sony’s Television Chairman, Steve Mosko, and Motion Picture Group Chairman, Tom Rothman.
Working as a strategy consultant at Booz Allen earlier, Lake began his journey at Sony Pictures in 2006. Tom Rothman said, “Randy has one of the sharpest minds in the business and we are thrilled to have him at the helm of our leaner, more efficient, and more effective studio operations and visual effects businesses.”
