Skype goes the Bollywood way

Skype, a Microsoft product that bridged the gap between long distances making it easier not only on the personal but also on the professional front; which gave a technical way of freedom of expression is now all set to give its communication a filmy touch.

Microsoft’s instant messaging, voice and video calling platform Skype on Thursday launched new interactive videos and moving emoticons from the Bollywood and Hollywood genre specifically designed for India. Named Mojis by Skype, are the best of very small clips of Hollywood and Bollywood videos that the company claims will revolutionise chat platforms.

For this unique and entertaining feature, Skype has partnered with Indian studios Yash Raj Films and ErosNow, the on-demand entertainment platform of Eros International, to develop custom Mojis for Skype users.

Skype corporate VP Gurdeep Pall, said that they had identified that these clips might be heavy on data usage for users and hence  they have cached  it on the app itself reducing the need for the user to download them every time while sending them over the platform. There are about 100 Mojis now and Skype will keep adding them on the app. They are also thinking about including several features which may allow users in the future to send custom Mojis via the instant chat as confirmed by Pall.

Skype targets to provide best possible messaging experience to the country  and considering India having a complete vibrant film culture, With the new update, Skype users can reply to messages with mojis featuring Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Anushka Sharma etc  and movies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to Tanu Weds Manu Returns and many more.

The app has seen at least 500 million downloads from the Google Play Store shall  have The new Bollywood Mojis and emoticons available in the features tab of the emoticon picker on Skype for Windows desktop, Mac, iOS, Android and Skype for Web.
