Maya the Bee feature will be buzzing to the North American market thanks to a distribution deal between Studio 100 film and Shout! Factory. The agreement grants Shout! exclusive US and Canadian distribution rights to the movie including theatrical, home entertainment, digital and broadcast for cross-platform releases.
The movie is an Australian-German co-production between Studio 100 Media and Buzz Studios in association with Flying Bark Productions is scheduled to roll out on various platforms through Shout! Factory Kids next year.
The story is about a freshly hatched bee Maya who doesn’t follow the rules of the hive. One of these rules is not to trust the hornets that live beyond the meadow. When the Royal Jelly is stolen, the hornets are suspected and Maya is thought to be their accomplice. No one believes that she is the innocent victim. Along with her friend Willy they both go on a long and eventful journey to the hornets hive. Will Maya and Willy will be able to discover the true culprit? Will the two friends finally bond with the other residents of the opulent meadow? For that you have to see the movie which will be buzzing soon next year.
Young actor Coco Jack Gillies has given voice to Cute Maya-The Bee. The film also has strong voice cast; award-winning Australian actors Jacki Weaver, Noah Taylor and Justine Clarke.
This feature is the adaptation of the globally beloved brand, which began as a children’s book series over a century ago, has been directed by Alexs Stadermann, produced by Thorsten Wegener (Studio 100) and Barbara Stephen (Buzz). Executive produced by Studio 100 Film CEO Patrick Elmendorff and head of Buzz Studios Jim Ballantine.
