Fans of Star Wars would now be hoping for 16 December to come soon as a new trailer for the franchise’s stand-alone film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has just been released. The previous trailers had already pushed the nostalgia button for the fans and the new trailer just boosts the hype.
Titled “Trust”, the one and a half minute clip gives us even more glimpses about the backdrop of the story. While a lot of elements in the trailer would be familiar, we do get to see a fresh look at droid K-S2O, played by Alan Tudyk. Droid K-S2O is an imperial war droid and has been reprogrammed by the rebellion to fight by their side.
The plot revolves around a bunch of ‘heroes’ who rise up against the imperial forces in order to disarm and destroy ‘The Death Star’, a weapon of ultimate destruction used by the Empire.
Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy, it features Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed, as well as Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with Jason McGatlin and John Knoll taking on the roles of executive producers.
The VFX has be created by Industrial Light & Magic and Blind.
J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015 was a big hit with the fans and they would expect something even better from the upcoming edition of the franchise. The film is slated for a 16 December, 2016 release.
