PVR Inox has announced that Borderlands, the live-action adaptation of the popular video game will release in theatres across India on 9 August 2024.
Directed by Eli Roth, the film stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Edgar Ramirez, Florian Munteanu, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Based on the well-known video game series Borderlands, developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, the film’s plot follows the adventurous journey of Lilith (played by Blanchett), a notorious treasure hunter. With the mission to locate the missing daughter of Atlas, Lilith returns to her native planet, Pandora. She, along with a group of misfits, embarks on a quest navigating perilous encounters with alien creatures and ruthless bandits.
The film’s producer Erik Feig said, “It’s bright, colourful, and adventurous, and set in a world we haven’t seen before. And it has heart. It is about a group of misfits who have been abandoned but come together with a mission and form a new family. That emotional journey, combined with an incredibly rich and visual world, gave us so much to work with to create an action-adventure with spectacle and fun.”
