‘PUBG Mobile’ doubles lifetime revenue to $3 billion in seven months: Sensor Tower

PUBG Mobile has hit the milestone of doubling its lifetime revenue to more than $3 billion in just seven months globally, a new report has said. According to estimates from mobile app trends tracker Sensor Tower, the immensely popular game has hit the landmark from combined player spending from Game For Peace — the title’s Chinese localisation and global revenue for PUBG Mobile.

According to Store Intelligence estimates by San Francisco-based Sensor Tower, PUBG Mobile dominated the multiplayer battle royale games arena with revenues nearly four times greater than another hugely popular title, Garena Free Fire. In 2020, while the Garena offering collected over $300 million , Knives Out from NetEase generated over $260 million  in revenue. Following them is Activision’s Call of Duty: Mobile that turned in a revenue of $220 million .

Although in terms of spending, Chinese players accounted for 52 percent of the total revenue generated, with the US coming second at 14 percent and Japan third at 5.6 per cent. Furthermore, the Apple App Store brought in 79 per cent of the player spending while Google Play accounted for 65 per cent of all downloads. With the online game is constantly updated with new features and in-game cosmetics, the player base always has something to look forward too.The App Store has also seen the biggest share of revenue collections, with 79 per cent of player spending. Google Play, on the other hand, accounts for the greatest number of downloads, at 65 per cent of all installs.
