Prasad EFX delivers 1000 VFX shots for Sundar C’s ‘Aambala’

15 January 2015 saw the release of Sundar C’s Aambala starring Vishal and Hansika and is the latest Tamil hit that Prasad EFX has delivered VFX for. It is an action comedy masala film produced by Vishal Film factory and cinematographed by Gopi Amarnath.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com, Prasad EFX, VP – VFX & DI, Hima Kumar says: “The most difficult part of doing visual effects is to make sure they don’t stand out. They should be seamless and invisible and should never take away from the film itself. I think we have managed it in this film.”

Hima goes onto add that the studio managed to deliver the seamless VFX mainly with the clear trust and vision of the director Sundar C. “We have worked with Sundar C in all of his recent films and working with him is always a great experience. In Aambala a lot of set extensions, digital matte paintings are involved. Very complicated wire removals and compositing work were minutely executed and there were critical special effects to add intensity to images and action shots as well,” Hima adds.

Around1000 VFX shots were worked upon for the movie and a team of 50 key artists completed the work in a tight schedule of 15 days under the VFX supervision of Raja (line producer) and project leader Sathya. “All our efforts were focused on crafting visuals which complement the storyline of the movie. The final output looks good and we are glad to have delivered as per the director’s vision,” he ends.
