Powerhouse Animation, one of the largest toon production studios in Texas, is growing its operations with a new 9,000 square foot office at Austin’s North MoPac Expressway. Specialising in 2D techniques and employing 45 people, Powerhouse posted $3 million in revenue for 2014 and, according to the Austin Business Journal, anticipates revenue growth of 130 per cent this year.
The larger studio space, a 3,000 sq. ft. increase over the company’s former offices, will give Powerhouse some elbow room to work on large videogame, broadcast and online content productions for clients such as Sony, Disney, EA and Nickelodeon.
CEO Brad Graeber, who co-founded the studio in 2001, says that the company will focus on building on its strong hold on the 2D animation niche rather than add in 3D operations. Powerhouse opened its first satellite in Burbank, Calif. toward the end of 2014.
