Electronic Arts has teased the new installment of its tower defence game Plants vs. Zombies. The new game is sequel to 2014 multiplayer shooter Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.
The teaser has been lined up to be revealed for the worldwide release at Microsoft’s Xbox briefing at E3 next week, on Monday, 15 June.
One of the first games to be enjoying the success of mobile gaming, PopCap has been developing successful Plants vs. Zombies franchise games widening the areas of innovation with every passing iteration to the game. The third person shooter enjoyed the casual approach of the Plants vs. Zombies games along with the shooter elements made it a good game among the mass gamers.
The new Plants vs. Zombies game was announced during an Electronic Arts earnings presentation back in May. “After Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare became a sensation last year with console players young and old, we’ll be returning to the Plants vs. Zombies universe with a bigger and bolder new console experience,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said at the time.
The game should be out by EA’s fourth fiscal quarter – according to the EA earnings call – and a tentative date for the same could be next year between 1 January and 31 March 2016. Garden Warfare 2 is coming to PC and console, with more platforms to be announced soon.
The original Garden Warfare was released first on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, before later shipping for PC and PlayStation consoles, this order could be followed this time around too as Microsoft would want some first exclusive titles on its console before releasing on rival consoles.
