The Pinkfong Company, the global entertainment company behind the cultural phenomenon Baby Shark, partners with McDonald’s Hong Kong to introduce the Baby Shark-themed Happy Meal campaign to engage families in helping protect the environment. The campaign that started on 22 September includes the exclusive Baby Shark storybooks and videos featuring Baby Shark with the global superstar Aaron Kwok, and unique on-site experiences at McDonald’s restaurant in Hung Hom Station in Hong Kong.
“We’re delighted to partner with McDonald’s Hong Kong to offer unique opportunities to kids and families to enjoy their favorite content while learning simple actions to save our planet. Committed to making the world a better place through joyful content, The Pinkfong Company will continue to put sustainability at the center of our hearts and collaborate with like-minded partners to raise awareness about environmental protection in fun and creative ways,” said The Pinkfong Company chief business officer Gemma Joo.
The Baby Shark storybooks, titled Plastic Reduction 101, Straws? NO!NO!NO!, Help The Forest, Baby Shark: The Energy Saver, Big Waster? NO WAY and Let’s Defeat the Rubbish Demon, are produced in six volumes, all of which are aimed at inspiring kids and families to help conserve the environment. Anyone who purchases a Happy Meal will receive a Baby Shark storybook as a gift. The Baby Shark-themed Happy Meal and storybooks is available at all McDonald’s restaurants in Hong Kong starting from 23 September, while stock lasts.
Along with the on-site Happy Meal promotions is a video with the superstar – Aaron Kwok to promote the campaign. Accompanied by the iconic Baby Shark song with a McDonald’s twist, the video also contains environmental protection messages to reduce the use of 100 million pieces of plastic cutlery per year.
The partnership is The Pinkfong Company’s latest commitment to protect the environment. Baby Shark landed at the McDonald’s restaurant at Hung Hom Station presenting a paradise with Baby Shark-themed decorations to children and their families. This restaurant is known for being the first-ever Hong Kong restaurant chain to achieve the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council in the category of Interior Design and Construction.
This is not the first time that The Pinkfong Company has collaborated with a brand in Hong Kong to protect the environment. In 2020, the company produced branded content with NGO EcoDrive Hong Kong and successfully raised awareness of reducing the use of disposable plastics by achieving 600,000 views on YouTube in a week. In 2022, The Pinkfong Company launched upcycling household goods made of RPET (Recycled PET) with A Plastic Ocean Foundation (APO), a Hong Kong-registered charity dedicated to creating a wave of change to prevent plastic pollution.
