Photos of Angry Birds movie revealed; trailer to release next week

One of the most loved and played games which came out back in 2009 was Angry Birds and owing to their popularity these furious avians and the bad piggies are also getting a film under their name. The Angry Birds movie deal was struck between Sony Pictures Entertainment with Rovio Entertainment in 2013 and recently IGN got to see few movie stills and images of this upcoming comedy film.

The animated film will basically show the origin story, explaining how the conflict between the flightless birds and green pigs began and why these birds are so damn angry.

Proceedings kick off on Bird Island, which is an untouched paradise and only birds (the game characters) reside there and eggs are their most treasured possessions. They are seen as very naive creatures and know nothing of the outside world leading to them being carefree and easygoing.

Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis) is the film’s lead character and he’s angry via flashbacks, we witness Red lose his rage on multiple occasions – which results in him being sent to court and sentenced to an anger management course where his teacher is Matilda, a white bird (Maya Rudolph) who also had anger issues in the past but channels them into a hippie and zen-like lifestyle.

Another member of the class is Chuck (Josh Gad), a slim, yellow bird who is quick in the game and even quicker in the movie. Bomb (Danny McBride) is a big, black bird – who frequently blows up as seen in the game and the reason behind it is that he’s suffering from IED – Intermittent Explosions Disorder and lives in a bomb shelter. Then there’s Mighty Eagle (Peter Dinklage) whose character features weren’t disclosed.

Where do the green pigs fit in? One fine day, they enter this isolated island in a boat and are extremely dumb but hilarious. They are voiced by the likes of Bill Hader, Tony Hale and a bunch of brilliant comedians. Though both the birds and the pigs initially are seen celebrating party together, Red doesn’t trust them and believes that these green piggies have an ulterior motive in mind for coming here.

What happens next? What makes these happy-go-lucky birds detest these dumb pigs is still kept under wraps and to discover that one will not have to wait for the movie to hit screens on 20 May, 2016 as the trailer is gearing up for launch next week.
