China based online game developer Perfect World today announced that the company has appointed Yunfan Zhang as the Company’s chief operating officer (COO). Yunfan joined Perfect World in February 2013. He served as the company’s vice president and later became senior vice president, in charge of the company’s mobile game publishing business. Prior to joining Perfect World, Yunfan served as the CEO of Beijing Zhizhu Network Technology from 2008 to 2012.
The news of the new COO came as the chairman of the board submits the buyout proposal. Perfect World will consider going private in 2015 following a proposal submitted by Michael Yufeng Chi, the company’s founder and current chairman of the board. A committee of three independent directors has been formed to examine the proposal: Daniel Dong Yang, Dr Bing Xiang and Han Zhang.
Perfect World primarily develops online games based on proprietary game engines and game development platforms. Perfect World’s current portfolio of self-developed online games includes massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGs): Perfect World, Legend of Martial Arts, Perfect World II, Zhu Xian, Pocketpet Journey West, Battle of the Immortals, Fantasy Zhu Xian, Forsaken World, Empire of the Immortals, Return of the Condor Heroes, Saint Seiya Online, Swordsman Online, Holy King and Legend of the Condor Heroes; and a number of web games and mobile games.
