Chinese smartphone makers going in for gaming hardware is not new. The announcement of OnePlus coming out with a gaming device from the company didn’t come as a surprise to many as the market back home is already in the race to capture gamers’ attention. Companies like Alibaba and Xiaomi have been flirting with the idea for quite some time.
At MWC last month, the company had teased spectators with a new product which the co-founder Carl Pei had said was neither a smartwatch nor a tablet, but a ‘game changer’.
The year old company has now given a sneak-peek into the launch of the upcoming device for the first time, with a post on the company’s official forum that hints at a gaming product.
It shared images of the upcoming device and said, “It’s been a little over a year since OnePlus was founded, and while we launched with our flagship killer smartphone, we have, and always will be, a technology company. Innovation and revolutionary ideas that shake up the industry are what OnePlus has built itself upon.”
The site has three images that show something related to gaming. In the first image, a red dot which might mean some sort of sensor, but specific details has not yet been revealed. It could suggest that this new device will include a type of camera sensor.
The next image shows the OnePlus logo drawn in a trail of two red lights. This might suggest some type of motion tracking technology, or infrared.
The last image from the forum post shows a pair of hands that look like they’re holding a controller or control by phone thing which could imply an Xbox Kinect-type system, where a motion sensor tracks your every move.
