Remember when Oculus VR was just a Kickstarter campaign and received overwhelming response from the backers with funds coming in from all quarters for its headset. Oculus VR has now announced that the backers of their Kickstarter campaign will receive free headsets of the final edition, called the Kickstarter Edition Oculus Rift.
This was posted on Kickstarter where Oculus began its journey and the post calls it a small token of appreciation from Oculus VR. An email will be sent from Kickstarter to all the backers who then need to fill in their details and get the free headsets. The Kickstarter Edition Oculus Rift will be available in the 20 countries that the Oculus Rift consumer edition is launching in, so if you’re not in one of those countries, the Kickstarter email will offer some alternatives.
Pre-orders for Oculus start today and the headsets will come bundled with two games: EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky’s Tale specially made for Oculus.
The move will certainly help Oculus get back with the early backers of the company but felt unhappy when the company was acquired by Facebook. Also, another boost by these users will give Oculus the much needed push among the now competitive VR headset space with Sony, Razer and HTC all gunning for that early lead.
