The pop culture event that has been growing across countries, Comic Con and has been witnessed in many states in the USA like New York, Ohio, Dallas, San Diego. And this weekend, we saw the first ever New Jersey Comic Expo hit the floor of the NJ Expo Center in Edison.
The event witnessed a whole bunch of artists, celebrity presenters and cosplayers. The expo was organized by MAD Event Management, which has been producing the Long Beach Comic Con in California for the last seven years. Middlesex Borough’s Kay Victoria said to N.J that New Jersey has been lacking a true comic expo with all the trimmings; celebrities, replica cars and artistry. “There are not a lot of cons in New Jersey,” Victoria said. “It’s smaller than a Comic Con, which is good because you get to meet a lot of people.”
The weekend featured a lineup of celebrity guests, legendary and top creators in the comic book industry, replica cars from classic movies and television shows, interactive exhibits and hours of seminars and panels.
The all-ages event included scheduled appearances from Drea de Matteo of The Sopranos and Sons of Anarchy, Amy Acker of Joss Whedon’s Angel series, Chase Masterson from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and The Flash, Tommy Walker and Peter Shinkoda of Daredevil, wrestling legend Tito Santana and many more. Along with them comic artists were also seen, one of whom being DC’s Jim Lee. The real attraction, for many, was a chance to be among fellow comic enthusiasts, with both professional cosplayers and amateurs mingling on the event floor.
Also featured were replicas of iconic vehicles from movies and television, including the 1966 Batmobile, the Bat Tumbler from the Dark Knight movies, the ECTO-1 from Ghostbusters, the Back to the Future DeLorean, Scooby-Doo‘s Mystery Machine, The Flintstones car, the Jurassic Park’s Jeep, Knight Rider‘s K.I.T.T. More than 150 vendors sold new and collectible items as well.
“We set out to create an area our own kids would enjoy and along the way, we were fortunate enough to find partners who took it to another level,” said New Jersey Comic Expo’s Executive Director and Founder, Martha Donato.
