DreamWorks ‘Trollhunters’ is all set to unleash a new, fantastical world wrapped around the residents of the fictional suburb of Arcadia who make a startling discovery that the world beneath their hometown is as vast and mind blowing as anything on the surface. DreamWorks Trollhunters will bring viewers of all ages around the world into the rich and creative mind of Guillermo del Toro.
Guillermo del Toro’s work as a director, screenwriter, film maker, producer and author is incredibly extensive and varied, ranging from novels to comic books and television to imaginative feature films. Throughout his career, he has consistently had a strong connection and lifelong fascination with fantastical creatures and in DreamWorks Trollhunters we might get to witness vast and vibrant worlds with complex human and troll characters that create a cinematic television experience.
The series is based on the illustrated novel of the same name that del Toro penned with Daniel Kraus. Back in 2010, DreamWorks was planning to make Trollhunters into a 3D animated movie before shifting gears and teaming with Netflix for a series which will be debuting on 23 December.
In a statement, Netflix, director of kids content, Andy Yeatman said, “We program our shows around people’s lives – not advertising schedules,” further adding, “We know our members are hungry for new content in the slow post-holiday weeks of late December and early January, which is when our viewership peaks. So, we teamed with DreamWorks Animation Television and acclaimed film-maker Guillermo del Toro to launch 26 episodes – the most we’ve delivered of any original series at once – to give families a new story to enjoy together.”
