Netflix has rolled out a free plan that allows people to enjoy the platform’s content ad-free on android mobile phones in Vietnam. While signing up, no payment information will be required and members can immediately start watching many of Netflix’s most popular series and films like Squid Game, The Witcher, Money Heist, and many more.
“Vietnam is the only country in Asia where we are trying this at the moment, and the second one to experience the free plan, after Kenya,” Netflix said in a statement.
People in Vietnam will be able to stream Netflix content just by entering an email id, confirming that they are 18 years or above and then creating a password.
Even in the free plan, members can enjoy tailored recommendations, create up to five profiles (including kids’) for everyone in and add shows and movies to ‘My List’ to watch later. For those with children at home, can access popular parental controls like maturity settings for age-appropriate entertainment, profile PINs to lock off access to one or all profiles and even the ability to monitor what the little ones have been watching.
“In the coming months, the download feature will also be made available in the free plan so that you can watch your favorite Netflix shows while on the go and even without an Internet connection,” the OTT giant said.
Also, they would be looking forward to transition towards an upgradation of subscriptions to any of their full-paid versions over time after enjoying the free plan. This will enable the members to enjoy the full catalog, more features and the option to enjoy Netflix on one’s TV or laptop.
In 2019, Netflix had tried discounted subscription plans in India. While signing up, new users were offered a 20 per cent discount on a three-month subscription, a 30 per cent discount on a six-month term and a 50 per cent discount on a 12-month contract.
Also, they had introduced a mobile-only plan of Rs 199 which was significantly successful enabling Netflix to try it in other markets as well.
