Naruto, a famous Japanese manga and anime series, is ready to break its silence, with the anime franchise set to reveal What’s Next panel for its new TV anime limited series during a special New York Comic Con, an annual pop culture fan convention held in New York City dedicated to comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies, and television, panel on 10 October.
The announcement will be streamed globally from the convention, giving fans worldwide a front-row seat to the next chapter. The timing adds another layer of ninja drama, as the event coincides with Naruto Uzumaki, main hero of the popular anime and manga series Naruto, birthday.
Joining the panel will be Naruto voice actor Junko Takeuchi, Sasuke voice actor Noriaki Sugiyama and Studio Pierrot executive producer Yoshihiro Tominaga, who works under the Pierrot Films label.
The panel will kick off at 5 pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) on 10 October, which translates to 6 am JST (Japan Standard Time) on 11 October in Japan. Alongside the anime announcement, fans can also expect more details on the Naruto Card Game, an upcoming strategic Trading Card Game (TCG) produced by Bandai, a major Japanese toy manufacturer and plastic model kit producer.
The new TV anime has its mysteries of its own to unravel. A four-episode 20th anniversary Naruto anime was originally announced in 2023, with a planned release on 3 September. However, the project was postponed shortly before its scheduled premiere to allow the production team to increase the quality.
Flow, a famous Japanese rock band, had previously been announced to perform the opening and ending themes for those episodes. Whether the newly teased limited series is the same project remains unclear.
Based on Masashi Kishimoto’s manga, Naruto originally ran from 1999 to 2014 across 72 volumes. The franchise subsequently expanded into Naruto Shippuden and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations keeping the ninja saga firmly in fighting shape.
Now, with the clock ticking towards 10 October, fans won’t have to master a thousand ninja techniques to find out what comes next. One livestream, one big reveal and plenty of hidden-leaf intrigue await.
