Even as Indian animation’s most popular duo – Motu and Patlu – prepare for their sixth made for TV outing this Sunday, 14 June at 11:30 am on Nick India, they took to walking the orange carpet like true celebrities on 11 June at Fun Cinemas, Andheri (W) for their movie premiere courtesy Nick India and AnimationXpress.com.
“The idea behind having this on-ground activity and movie premiere is to bring the kids closer to their favourite characters and to have a more tangible value proposition for the people who matter,” says Viacom18 EVP and business head – kids cluster Nina Elavia Jaipuria.
Nick India and AnimationXpress.com brought a smile to the faces of young kids from NGOs like Smile Foundation, Child Help Foundation and also to young toddlers and their parents from Kaleidokids Playgroup, as they gathered around to witness the magnificent sequel to ‘Motu Patlu Kung Fu King’ on the big screen.
Viacom18 EVP and business head – kids cluster Anu Sikka expounds: “The characters of the TV series have garnered a huge following and the made for TV movies have only taken the franchise further, we get some great numbers for the movies on TV, as it allows us to explore various premises and one gets to see Motu and Patlu in a different environment each time.”
The first part of the sequel had been the highest rated TV movie for the channel and each time the movie still plays out, it enjoys some great viewership numbers. This time the channel has gone with the 360 degree engagement practice, which was initiated by it even earlier last year, as viewers and kids get the chance to interact and engage with their favourite characters online, on-ground and through contests during the premiere on Sunday.
“The TV movie allows us to experiment with longer format and kids can watch Motu and Patlu for a longer duration of over 80 minutes. Which is a win-win situation for both – the network and the kids,” reveals Nina, on the idea of making a lot more TV movies on the franchise.
The movie kick starts with the kidnapping of Tim Tim – the grandson of Motu Patlu’s Kung Fu mentor, Himnaresh – by a mysterious creature with four arms. Motu Patlu are assigned the task of rescuing Tim Tim. The journey of Motu Patlu high up into the spooky valleys of the mysterious Snake Mountain to fight an army raised by an evil scientist create edge-of-the-seat adventure. Will MotuPatlu survive the angry army of Mutants? Will they be able to save Tim Tim? Motu Patlu’s new adventure is all set to take kids on a roller coaster ride of high octane fun and entertainment.
