Mojang’s Minecraft enters the Chinese border for the first time

Minecraft, developed by Mojang has been an immensely popular game and has a strong fan base replete throughout the globe.

Now, the company has announced that it will be venturing into China for the very first time. China has a large population of PC gamers and arguably the biggest gaming market throughout the globe. In a blog post on their website, Mojang announced that they will be licensing the rights to both the PC and mobile version of Minecraft to NetEase, which also manages some of the other western developed games in China, like Hearthstone and the renowned MMORPG game World of Warcraft.

Famed for selling over 100 million units of their sandbox game Minecraft, Mojang will fabricate an exclusive Chinese version to cater the gaming enthusiasts of the country and release it in collaboration with NetEase.

“We’ll always embrace opportunities to bring Minecraft to new players around the world, widening our community, and giving us a new perspective on our game,” said Mojang, CEO, Jonas Martensson, in his statement on the company’s blog. “NetEase understand our long-term vision for Minecraft and support Mojang’s ideals, so we’re delighted to have them on board. We look forward to welcoming China’s builders and adventurers to the world of Minecraft.”

The company has however not revealed any dates on when the game will be released, however it is known that the game will be limited to PC and mobiles and not venture into the sector of consoles.

With NetEase already having servers dotted throughout the region, it might as well be a fairly easy task for NetEase to spread the famous game to the masses and let them build their own world in Minecraft.
