The story of the King of Pop will be told once again by his pet but this time in the form of a stop motion animation project. ‘Bubbles’, the script by Isaac Adamson on Michael Jackson told from his pet chimpanzee Bubble’s perspective, has been acquired by Andrew Kortschak’s End Cue and Dan Harmon’s Starburns Industries.
End Cue and Starburns Industries will use the script to produce a stop motion animated film as that is the forte of Starburns Industries. The blockbuster Anomalisa that created ripples in the industry due to its stop motion animation and art of storytelling was produced by Starburns Industries. Therefore, this MJ centric script can be expected to be an exemplary work as far as the animation bit is concerned.
While, as far as the script is concerned, ‘Bubbles’ topped the 2015 ‘Black List’ of unproduced scripts in Hollywood. The script followed the story of the iconic singer and his inner life with all his ups and downs from the view of Bubbles, a chimpanzee pet, who was a frequent companion of the Pop star.
The Black List description of Isaac Adamson’s script said, “A baby chimp is adopted by pop star Michael Jackson. Narrating his own story, Bubbles the Chimp details his life within The King of Pop’s inner circle through the scandals that later rocked Jackson’s life and eventually led to Bubbles’ release.”
The script has been considered a very inventive way to tell an unauthorised story of Jackson. Adamson and Lee Stobby will be executive producers, and Harmon and Kortschak will produce the film. CAA will represent the distribution rights for the film as Harmon and Starburns Industries are repped by CAA.
The story of the immortal star is just insufficient no matter how often it is narrated in varied forms. And now, it will have a new avatar in the animated form as it marks a deep inside of his life from a close acquaintance. Moreover, just as Anomalisa touched hearts through its human appeal, MJ who has ruled hearts for eternity will probably baffle spectators through this upcoming film.
