Miitomo – The first game from Nintendo DeNA marriage

One of the most waited events in the mobile gaming industry; the first mobile game from Nintendo DeNA partnership was finally announced at investor meet in Tokyo.

The first game from Nintendo is called Miitomo, a free-to-play game with paid add-ons. The game allows players to customize their Mii characters, and communicate with Miis made by other players.

The announcement though had a bad news for the enthusiasts who have been wanting to play a Nintendo game on the smartphone as the game which was supposed to be out by the end of this year, it’s now been delayed until next March. The company plans to release four additional titles by March 2017.

Tatsumi Kimishima took the centre-stage, who succeeded the late Satoru Iwata, and said that the game was delayed to better promote it and not clutter among the many releases during the busy holiday season.

Also revealed were that Nintendo’s new mobile initiative with most notable the fact that the company will use cloud transfer system to share data between mobile and console games. While, Miitomo is a free-to-play game, other releases from the company will be traditional paid games.

The company said it is on course to release five mobile games by March 2017 in collaboration with Japanese mobile gaming giant DeNA. Other than mobile games, Nintendo also recently announced a new augmented reality mobile title called Pokemon Go, built in partnership with The Pokemon Company and former Google subsidiary Niantic Labs.

Also, Nintendo’s new console NX was talked about and how a wealth of IPs to the new consoles and market it aggressively in the future. Nintendo also has a slate of unannounced games for this holiday for the Wii U and 3DS.
