Microsoft in leading up to its new OS – Windows 10, may have a few troublemakers leaking some of the software from the new OS. The leaked version of Office 2016 and Skype for Business was released giving an early access to them but Microsoft has taken the situation under control is now letting anyone test its upcoming Office client. The software maker is launching an Office 2016 preview aimed at IT professionals and developers.
This early build doesn’t yet contain all the features that will ship in the final product, but one can get a close look at what Office has to offer when it ships later this year.
Other features included in the Office 2016 IT Pro and Developer preview are improved keyboard accessibility for certain Excel features, fixes for readability issues on Outlook, and a dark theme in Outlook for visually impaired users. Microsoft added that it made no changes in its Macros and Add-ins in this release. Information Rights Management (IRM) protection has also been extended to Visio files.
Microsoft is also launching a test version of Skype for Business, along with Office 2016. Lync, Microsoft’s primary communications tool for businesses will be replaced by the new version of Skype. Skype for Business will have a similar looking UI as consumer version of Skype, but will also have the ability to integrate closely into various Office apps.
Microsoft’s Outlook is also improving. The personal manager will have search, storage footprint, and email delivery performance, alongside some improvements to image insertion in Word 2016 and Excel 2016. Microsoft previously too has added new ways to extend Office for developers.
