Taking the opportune moment of E3 into consideration, Microsoft brought out their latest console, Xbox One S, which is 40 per cent smaller than the current version, cheaper at a cost of $299 and will sport a 2TB hard drive space. It will be out in the market by the end of this year.
The company also shed some light over their much rumoured ‘Project Scorpio’, which is scheduled to release some time in 2017. The model will feature a 4K game graphic support and will be VR-ready. Featuring six teraflops of power, the new device would be the most powerful one among all of its predecessors.
There is no doubt that it will be one powerful machine when it comes to gaming. Although, during their media briefing at the E3 conference, Microsoft revealed that, switching to Scorpio from Xbox One and Xbox 360 will not be a huge and absolute change as players will not have to start from scratch. The games on the new device would be compatible with the ones on Xbox One and Xbox One S, they will just be modified to a higher graphic capability.
Microsoft also said that they won’t be “forcing gamers to abandon” their Xbox One (Or Xbox One), all the games would still be playable on the previous editions.
There have been rumours and speculations already that there would be some games which will be playable on Scorpio only. A company personnel asserted that it would be dependent on the developers community and not them.
We will keep you updated on further information about Project Scorpio.
Update: Xbox One S starts rolling out 2 August this year but only the 2 TB model of white console will be available for now, which costs $400. The rest ones, the 1 TB (for $350) and 500 GB (for $300) models are rumoured to be coming later as Microsoft has listed them for a date of December this year.
