Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), one of the most popular teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL), helmed by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has announced their entry to the Metaverse with the Galaxy Of Knights. The avatars were officially launched on 5 April.
“Superheroes ki tarah kheltey toh dekha hai, ab superheroes avtaar bhi dekho! Assembly of #GalaxyOfKnights #KKRHaiTaiyaar @KKRiders (They have been seen playing as superheroes, now it is time to see their superheroes avatar),” Khan shared on his official Twitter account.
The 49-second clip has avatars of seven players in their shining outfits, radiating a superhero vibe. In the Galaxy Of Knights, the player avatars are seen entering the stadium, totally ready to face their opponents.
The Metaverse is a network where you get an immersive experience in a virtual world while interacting and experiencing things as you would in real life. Since the time of inception and with Facebook changing its name to Meta, various industry stakeholders have taken an initiative to invest in this new age technology.
Earlier, the new IPL franchise Gujarat Titans launched their logo into Metaverse. Their captain Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill were seen as avatars during the launch.
With both KKR and GT more IPL teams are expected to enter the Metaverse for an immersive experience.
