European independent multigenre studio Mediawan’s division Mediawan Kids & Family is dedicated to the production and distribution of children and family content for audiences worldwide. Being leading producers of premium TV shows, high-end feature films and digital content for kids, tweens, young adults and families in Europe, the company shared its upcoming content lineup at the ongoing Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
Mediawan Kids & Family houses five production labels headquartered in France: the well-established animation label Method Animation, brand-new 2D animation TV label for kids Somewhere Animation, live-action shows for youth and family studio Elliott Studio, Joann Sfar’s Magical Society and Mediawan Kids & Family Cinema. It is also present internationally through three labels: Palomar Animation in Italy, Wildseed Studios in the UK, and Submarine Animation in the Netherlands.
Studio-wise content lineup:
Method Animation is partnering with Good Hero to produce the series Tales of the Miruu. Also, it is co-developing with TF1 a series based on the iconic Osamu Tezuka’s character Astroboy.
Along with Wildseed Studios, it plans to join forces with France Televisions to produce the series Tuff Pom. In partnership with BBC and Sun & Moon, it will bring the series Duck & Frog to international audiences.
Method Animation is also bringing new originals and IP adaptations:
- Pango: a 2D new original preschool series based on the famous game app by Studio Pango.
- Masked Cinderella: an adventure series where classic fairy tales meet the modern day.
Mediawan Kids & Family Cinema is striving with the development and production of ambitious feature films: Twisted, Meow-woof, Spike (Submarine), Dansker (Submarine) and many more.
Somewhere Animation is working on a colourful 2D new cartoon/sitcom Chococat & Me.
Elliott Studio – Specialising in live-action shows for youth and family, they are working on League of Light, a series in co-production with our British label Wildseed Studios.
Submarine Animation is involved in development of new premium series:
- Infinite Kung Fu is a 2D action/adventure series for adults
- Kiranmalla is a 3D adventure/comedy for kids based on book series by Sayantani DasGupta
Mediawan Kids and Family Distribution are managing a rich-content catalogue of 2,500 half-hours of programs produced within the Group and third-party acquisitions such as the two BBC’s series: Duck and Frog, a dialogue free slapstick comedy, and Maddie + Triggs, a unique series that tells the adventures of a visually impaired young girl and her dog.
