Maya Digital Studios looks to expand its 2D animation team; heads to Hyderabad to scout for fresh talent

The Mumbai based animation studio is certainly spreading its wings wide to soar higher. The studio is scouting for fresh talent for its recent focus into the 2D animation realm with ‘Kisna’ that airs on Discovery Kids, and an upcoming 2D venture with Disney Channel India set to go on air next year.

The studio also has a stronghold on the 3D space with ‘Motu Patlu’ which airs on Nick and ‘Vir The Robot’ on Hungama. “The idea is very clear; we want to absorb fresher and new talent for our upcoming and ongoing 2D animation projects. We are really happy that we are now working with almost all the major kids’ broadcasters in the country and will certainly come up with more original IPs in the near future as well. We are also looking at medium and small size (minimum of 25 seater studios) to partner with us for our IP projects,” says the company’s  outsource producer Asif Khan.

the company’s HR manager Amit Dolas along with the Asif Khan will be travelling shortly to Hyderabad to conduct interviews on 28 November for various openings at the studio. The current requirements are for 40 2D animators, 10 storyboard artists and 10 concept designers.

“To make the cut, the animators need to be skilled in Flash and Harmony softwares; apart from this if they have done BFA, it would fetch them a few extra brownie points as that requires a basic understanding of art. We are looking for a minimum of 1.5 years experienced professionals, but the door is wide open for freshers as well,” reveals Amit.

It certainly seems that Maya Digital Studios is leaving no stone unturned to make a mark in the 2D animation space as well, after having won hearts with Motu Patlu and Vir The Robot over the years and now also earning much appreciation for its latest offering with Kisna.
