Maya Digital Studios (MDS) has entered into a partnership with Hyderabad based Element6 FX that will allow the former to increase its content library by sizing up its scale of operations.
The Hyderabad facility will provide both 3D and 2D animation work starting off with a 100 strong team and gradually growing up to 200 by next month. 70 per cent of the hiring will be for 2D animation, as that is what Maya wants to focus on.
It will be headed by MDS executive producer Saravana Kumar R. Said he, “The focus of this strategic business unit with Element 6 FX will be provide ample production support to ensure that the high quality that is the hallmark of Maya Digital Studios is retained while the delivery numbers are increased substantially.”
Currently Maya is producing Motu Patlu that is being aired on Nick India, Vir- The Robot Boy that is airing on Disney Hungama and Kisna on Discovery Kids India. Three other shows are also under production. Two will air on Indian channels while one will air on an international kids’ channel.
“It is a great time for us here at Maya, as we are producing such high quality content in such large quantities. Growth is thereby a natural progression, and hence we are now venturing into Hyderabad. Element 6 FX has a good track record for timely delivery and high quality work and thus we have formed this association with them”, said MDS founder and managing director Ketan Mehta.
“One of the biggest strengths for MDS is the high volumes of content that it produces and to achieve that we need more people to come on board. The key purpose of this strategic association is to achieve that in Hyderabad, which is one of the key talent pool markets for the industry,” added MDS outsourced projects producer Asif Khan. After having successfully worked in the past, the two companies decided to join hands to create even better quality content.
Once the entire 200 member team is operational, this strategic business unit will deliver 10 half hour episodes worth of content on a monthly basis to add to the content bank of MDS. Currently MDS produces about 300 minutes.
