Just a few months on from the epic climax of its debut season, Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger now readies for its second run in the pop-culture with an all-new season. And in an effort to ramp up the expectations, the show’s official Twitter handle dropped a new teaser trailer that portends the arrival of a new Marvel villain.
In the final episode of the first season, Bridge O’Reilly, a police detective involved in aiding Tyrone Johnson’s quest to apprehend apparent drug trafficker Conners, was shot by the latter and consumed by a dark energy called Terror. Now, she’s back and in an all new avatar called Mayhem, the show’s new antagonist.
The clip shows Mayhem’s violent side as O’Reilly could be heard uttering some chilling words: “I am not the person I was”, effectively referring to her transformation into a deadly monster.
Also, human trafficking is rampant in the city, and our heroes Tyrone and Tandy, have their hands full. But even though they join forces to fight the growing epidemic, Mayhem is unconvinced about their ways to deliver justice and takes matters into her own hands, battering the pulp out of the bad guys, The Punisher style.
In the Marvel Comics universe, Mayhem is a deadly supervillain with the power to exude highly toxic green gases that can paralyse anyone and also reveal the truth from its victims.
