Marvel Studios has released an updated poster of Avengers: Endgame after facing backlash from fans for not including Danai Gurira aka Okoye’s name on it.
Gurira, who played the Wakandan general cum Dora Milaje warrior in Black Panther and then in Avengers: Infinity War in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), appears on the poster but her name was listed in the lower credits, along with Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, and Gwyneth Paltrow, whose characters are not part of the poster image instead of the top-billed cast. However, we do not see Okoye in the new trailer either.
BLACK PANTHER star Danai Gurira is the only actor pictured whose name isn’t billed at the top. Her image is larger than some actors who do get that billing. The only one from the franchise’s best and most profitable movie, and yet? @MarvelStudios, this isn’t difficult. Fix this. https://t.co/22miymysgj

Gurira’s omission attracted criticism on social media, with many claiming that Marvel disregarded the only strong black woman character of the MCU.
A tweet read, “I mean, they’ve got Bradley Cooper’s name in there and he’s just the VOICE of Rocket. Danai Gurira is the ONLY person on the poster not to be listed by name.”
Following the backlash, the studio updated the poster, adding Gurira’s name alongside Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. “She should have been up there all this time. Check out the official Marvel poster” read the tweet.

The studio on Thursday dropped the official trailer for Avengers: Endgame, which is the final film within the MCU’s current generation of superheroes. It comprises of 22 films, including Spider-Man: Homecoming and recently released Captain Marvel. The much awaited film of 2019 releases on 26 April.
Avengers: Endgame also marks a closing on the major parts of the Avengers story, rather than continue with new installment—despite the fact the series is still raking in millions. Many of the actors who’ve been a part of the Marvel films are expected to leave with Endgame, including Evans, who has bid adieu to his Captain America character with a tweet last fall. Downey’s contract reportedly expires with this latest film, as well. As of last May, Disney head Bob Iger noted he hadn’t ruled out a new Avengers entry.
But even if Endgame serves as the final appearance for such characters as Cap and Iron Man, what can console fans is the just-released Captain Marvel which enjoyed a massive opening weekend, and this summer they will feast their of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Future installments starring Doctor Strange, Black Widow, and the Guardians of the Galaxy are in the works, as well.
