Marvel plays ‘spot the Ant-Man’ with teasing Avengers posters

After replicating its ginormous success with the Avengers-Age of Ultron (2015), Marvel Studios is going all out in promoting its latest Avenger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Ant Man.  Starring Paul Rudd and Michal Douglas as Scott Lang AKA Ant-Man and Henry Pym respectively, the tent-pole is the twelfth MCU movie adding to the superhero-basket of the Marvel Studios.

Pursuing their hard-hitting marketing tactics, Marvel recently released a string of new posters of the upcoming superhero relying heavily on the established Marvel properties. Pushing the weight behind Marvel’s Ant-Man are characters including the likes of Marvel cash-cow Iron Man, the God of Thunder, Thor’s Mjolnir (hammer) and Captain America’s vibranium shield. Featuring Ant-Man in his comic-adapted costume and shrunk to its minuscule form along with the tag line ‘No Shield, No Hammer. No Problem’, Marvel speaks its message aloud of promoting the connection between the Avenger’s universe and that of the newly arrived Ant-Man.

With only a month ahead of its release, Marvel also unveiled another TV Spot dropping in more glimpses into the flick’s main antagonist, The Yellow Jacket who promises to unleash havoc upon those close to Dr. Henry Pym.  The teaser also gives away the fact that Marvel would continue the trend of lightening up the comic action-script with sleek humor and Paul’s charm does look promising in carrying off that wit perfectly.

As per comics, Ant-Man was another brainchild of Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby, which was initially around Dr. Henry Pym – a scientist – who invented a substance that allowed him to shrink in size while magnifying strength and agility. Ant-Man was also a founding member of the Avengers and the creator of Ultron, however the MCU has tweaked that plot a bit and introduced Ant-Man post the Ultron saga.

Ant-Man gears to sting us in theatres come 17 July and while Marvel’s tent-pole promises some epic battle sequences in the live-action flick, the Indian box-office will witness a battle of another kind as the new Avenger locks horns with Khan Bhaijaan releasing his next feature under the Salman Khan Films banner on the same date.
