The character of Harley Quinn, which was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm and first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series, has recently gained critical attention as Margot Robbie filled her shoes in DC Comics and Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad. The character was created as a close accomplice and lover to Joker and was also an ally to the villainess, Poison Ivy.
From the trailers of the movie, the character of Quinn played by Margot Robbie seems to have already captivated the audience with its blatant and weird(ish) humour while playing the part in an absolute chic manner.
Now as The Hollywood Reporter brings us the news, Warner Bros. will be coming up with a movie surrounding Harley Quinn, although she will not likely be the only notable character in the movie as it will also feature other female protagonists and villainesses alike.
Margot Robbie will once again be seen in the attire of Harley Quinn. If reports are to be believed, Robbie was the harbinger of this project. When she got the role of Quinn in Suicide Squad, she started delving deep into the comics from DC universe and fell for its female characters and thus brought in the writer to help her out with the project, which in turn she pitched to Warner Bros. and they took it up. Robbie is also being said to be producing the movie.
The script is apparently already in works by a female writer, although no names are known yet. The names of Batgirl and Birds of Prey have appeared too. Other possible characters that might have a chance in the movie are Katana, Bumblebee and some more.
With the recently launched ‘DC SuperHero Girls’, a comic line focused on the young female comic readers and news of an all female DC movie on the lines, DC really seems to be bringing everything together to enthuse its male and female fans alike.
We will have to wait for further information to be revealed officially, till then we can only speculate which characters will the movie boast.
