Mad Catz adds strength to its Gamesmart range

Mad Catz, the creators of the M.O.J.O. micro-console, have just announced two new gaming controllers from its impressive line-up which boast the likes of L.Y.N.X.

Mad Catz announced a “baby brother” to the L.Y.N.X. 9, the L.Y.N.X. 3. This new controller borrows heavily from the design of the L.Y.N.X.

The L.Y.N.X. 3 aims to be the more affordable version of that. Just like the other gaming controllers, this one can connect to a slew of different Android-powered devices. It has a fold-out design, two joy sticks, a d-pad, ABXY buttons and two shoulder buttons. But unlike L.Y.N.X. 9, this one gets rid of the keyboard and the tablet mode making it lighter than its more costly sibling.

“We’re thrilled with the attention the L.Y.N.X. has garnered and proud of the multiple ‘Best of CES’ awards received when we unveiled the new controller in January 2015.  We’re excited to now introduce the L.Y.N.X. 3 as the newest member in the L.Y.N.X. range – a new mobile gaming controller designed to convey the same striking looks and Bluetooth technology, at a price point which we believe will resonate strongly with passionate mobile gamers,” said Mad Catz, president and CEO Darren Richardson.  “We expect that mobile gaming will see strong growth in 2015, and we believe our strategy of offering console-quality controllers for every budget will allow our GameSmart range to contribute positively to our sales in fiscal 2016.”

The S.U.R.F.R, is a bit toned-down from other controllers seen from the company in the past. Slated as the “ultimate multimedia surfer and gaming controller”, the S.U.R.F.R aims to make your life easier thanks to its full QWERTY keyboard and mouse pointer input.

“Today’s living room is rapidly evolving beyond proprietary cable boxes and gaming consoles.  While consumers continue to gravitate towards connected devices as their preferred platform for streaming digital media content, gaming, surfing the web and social media, current controllers just don’t deliver on the experience they desire.  The S.U.R.F.R has been designed to get the most out of these different devices we are now accustomed to in our daily lives,” added Richardson.  “We are confident in the multiple opportunities presented by the S.U.R.F.R and look forward to it contributing to sales of our GameSmart suite of connected products throughout 2015 and beyond.”

The S.U.R.F.R is designed to let you control Android TV devices, Android streaming boxes, set-top boxes, tablets and HTPCs via its Bluetooth connection.
