‘Maayan’ turns the page: From comic validation to animation ambition at AM Summit 2026

From L to R: Ruksana CA, Visakh PK, Takahiro Kishimoto, Ananthakrishnan T.U, Aadidev R, Visakh VM

What begins on the page does not always stay there. At the Animation & More Summit 2026, Carmond Infinity demonstrated how an original IP can move from comic-book shelves to screens and potentially into a much larger franchise universe.

In a presentation titled Building IP That Sells: From Comic Validation to Animation Franchise, the team behind Maayan unpacked the journey of building, testing and commercially validating an original entertainment property before taking the leap into animation.

The session was led by Carmond Infinity founder and CEO and Maayan co-creator and project designer Ananthakrishnan T.U.; creative director and partner and Maayan creator and writer Visakh PK; animation director and Maayan co-writer Visakh VM; Maayan Publications associate producer and operations Ruksana CA; and growth marketing and e-commerce associate Aadidev R.

Rather than treating IP development as a leap of faith, the team presented Maayan as a case study in audience-first franchise building. The discussion explored IP design, worldbuilding, comic production, direct-to-consumer distribution, offline audience testing, marketing and commercial validation.

The underlying message was simple: before building a franchise, find out whether anyone wants to live in its world.

The presentation moved swiftly from the mechanics of comic validation to the bigger picture of transmedia expansion, showing how audience engagement and market feedback could help shape the next stage of an IP’s journey.

The session culminated in the official announcement of Maayan’s next chapter as an animation franchise. The Maayan animation teaser premiered on stage, followed by the physical unveiling of the animation movie poster by Crayon Shin-chan producer Takahiro Kishimoto.

For Maayan, the story is no longer confined to panels and pages.

The comic has found its audience. The world is expanding. And now, Maayan is ready to animate its ambitions, one frame at a time.
