MAAC’s Delhi CG Animation Awards; a platform where industry and education converge

Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematic (MAAC South Extension, Pitampura and Rajouri Garden) India’s leading animation and multimedia institute presents the 5th edition of the annual ‘Delhi CG Animation Awards’ on 11 April, 2016 at Ansal Plaza, Khel Gaon, New Delhi.

Delhi CG Animation Awards (DCGAA) is a platform where the industry and education in the media and entertainment sector comes together.

Professional film makers, photographers, game designers, corporate designers, visual effects studios, architectural animation studios, animated – film making industry veterans and students are the constituents of the total participation pool of over 2,500 participants and audience of DCGAA.

DCGAA and MAAC have always strived to create platforms for raising the awareness among the youth about the latest trends in the imaging industry. Delhi CG Animation Awards 2016 is an effort in the same direction.

The two parallel objectives for conducting DCGAA are recognition of the emerging and established talents in the Computer Generated Imagery industry and education of students and professionals about the available opportunities, challenges, technologies and recognised industry standards.

Like in all its previous editions, DCGAA 2016 has a panel consisting of reputed studios like Sparrow Interactive, Riverbank, 29 Kreativ, Charuvi Design Labs, Digitoonz and Officially Toonz Studios, as a part of its jury along with names like Autodesk, technical specialist (M&E) India and SAARC, Abhishek Krishnan; Prime Focus World, talent acquisition manager, Subhajit Sarkar; Aptech, AVP, Abir Aich and MAAC, technical head – north zone, Pradeep Sawant to review and determine the winners in categories ranging from 3D, VFX, live action, 2D and experimental animation film making.

The event would consist of multiple sessions from DCGAA 2016 Technology and Professional Imaging partners WACOM, Autodesk and Canon, live digital painting competition by WACOM, live gaming competition, fun games and activities, screening of the student – closed category work including 65 movies made by over 700 students of MAAC and workshops by representatives of Autodesk, Canon and WACOM.

The award ceremony would start at 5 pm in the evening giving way to the distribution of 44 awards to the winners. Both teams and individuals would be recognised for excellence in their work in the industry at the gala event and rewarded from team DCGAA as well as the partners Rayvision, WACOM, Canon and Autodesk.

The stage of Delhi CG Animation Awards promises to keep their excitement upheld with the line up planned for the evening.
