Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) – leader in 3D Animation and VFX training hosted the 11th 24 FPS Awards 2014 in association with United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) on November 28th, 2014, at the Lalit Intercontinental in Mumbai.
Kubra Sait conducted the fun-filled event, which witnessed prominent faces. Anurag Basu, director of films like Murder, Life in a metro, and the widely acclaimed Barfi, graced the event through his presence at the morning event-‘MAAC’s got Talent’ and also felicitated the winners. Other prominent faces at the event included Shilpa Ranade, renowned animation director; Merzin Tavaria, Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, Prime Focus; Vaibhav Kumaresh of Vaibhav Studio; Cinematographer Vikas Sivaraman; Uttam Pal Singh, Director, Cartoon Network; Pradeep Nair, Managing Director, Autodesk India.

With a substantial number of global and Indian entries and several animation enthusiasts who attended the awards, the scale of the event was substantially bigger this year.

MAAC-UNIC collaboration has provided a platform to the students to promote the 8 Millennium Development Goals based on the theme – The Future We Want, through their animated movies, creating a sense of inspiration amongst the audience, to come forward and help bring a positive change in the society.

Silver – MAAC Vashi
Bronze – MAAC Andheri
Over the past eleven years, this event has gained momentous support from the global animation fraternity and has been a key driver and promoter of fresh animation talent in the country. At the event, Ninad Karpe, MD & CEO, Aptech Ltd said, “With animation movies like Frozen, Chota Bheem, Chaar Sahibzaade being created, we believe animation is here to stay and it has become a preferred career choice amongst the youngsters today. Awards like 24 FPS bring the best talent forward and motivate them to do better. Strengthening our partnership with UNIC, we hope to contribute positively towards accomplishment of the millennium development goals.”
Delighted at watching the winning entries, Kiran Mehra-Kerpelman, Director, UN Information Centre for India and Bhutan said, “We hope to contribute tremendously towards the social causes UNIC believes in and animation is such a fun and engaging way of achieving this. We are excited to use the brilliant films produced this year are throughout the world and help spread social messages in the form of relatable and comprehensible animation films.”
