A new game studio start-up based out of Navi Mumbai called Loon Games recently launched its first casual game for the Android and iOS platform on 7 June. The game called ‘Jello Quest’ takes one back to the evergreen ‘Pac Man’, which has similar mechanics, but this works on motion sensors as well.
Speaking on the game to AnimationXpress.com Loon Games founder Aditya Kulkarni says: “We were very clear before starting that it would be a casual game which folks will play for just 4-5 minutes while travelling or just chilling, thus the mechanics had to be fairly easy.”
The game requires one to tilt his/her device and help Jello collect all the squishy jellybeans. One can also use defense power to protect Jello from danger. Use attack power to destroy obstacles to oblivion! ‘Jello Quest’ features exciting physics and hours of fun gameplay.
Kulkarni adds: “The current edition features 60 levels and the game has been completely made by Paresh from the team, and given a great artwork by Sudhir. The music is by Kevin Macleod and it took us nearly three months for the complete development.”
Being an indie developer is slowly getting tougher, now even mobile advertising coming under service tax, sharing his views on the same Kulkarni laments: “It’s really tough being a start up to break-even on most occasions, and now with service tax being levied on mobile advertising, it’s going to make monetizing a tad bit more difficult.”
The game currently has over 1,200 downloads on both iOS and Android within a month. The studio is also working on creating a few more games in the coming months.
