‘League of Legends’ reveals its first LGBT character, Neeko

League of Legends developer Riot Games has announced its first-ever shape-shifting character Neeko as a new addition to the champions queue. With the launch of the character Neeko, Riot Games is holding the rainbow flag high, representing the LGBT community.

With the launch of Neeko, a curious chameleon who is able to take on other forms, a lot of assumptions and exclamations have been augmented like ‘she is gay, bi-curious’ but League of Legends  developer Riot games senior narrative writer Matt Dunn responded to a fan on Twitter that “Neeko *does* like female champions more than male champions. Neeko identifies as a lesbian.”

Though on the official launch of the character for the game did not mention that she is lesbian but has clearly epitomized that “Who is she? That depends on who are you?” which exemplified that Neeko’s character will depend on the mind and orientation of the player.

She is a shapeshifter from a long-lost tribe of vastaya, the same tribe from where Xayah, Rakan and Ahri come. She watches the world with wide eyes and endless curiosity, always looking for something new to be. She may not seem dangerous at first glance, but keeping a close eye on her things are never quite as they appear.

The first appearance on the official trailer portrays that Neeko is curious about unusual objects and she has a vibrant unicorn vibe with a tail. The most amazing part was that she is amazed and attracted by a frog and tried to become one in disguise.

As Neeko, a player can slip into the skin of your allies to bewilder enemies and surprise them with bursts of colourful primordial magic.

Diminishing the foes she cast spells like Blooming Burst or Tangle-Barbs which breaks the illusion and increases the cool down process. Apart from that, she has an ability named Pop Blossom, where she charges herself with spiritual essence. A moment later, she leaps into the air, gains a shield, and slows nearby enemies, releasing energy upon landing to massively damage and stun enemies in the area.

Considering the power-packed ability of Neeko, her preferences, her curiosity and her unusual liking for objects before disguising herself into it, we may label her as the first LGBT character on League of Legends.
