Laika, the animation studio known for its realistic stop-motion animation, has appointed former NBCUniversal executive Bradley Wald as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Operations.
With award winning films like Coraline and The Boxtrolls and the upcoming mystical journey Kubo and the Two Strings, Laika is now looking to grow its roster of animated feature films. Therefore an experienced mind like Wald, who has served as the chief commercial officer of international TV production at NBCUniversal in London, will be leading this initiative in order to extend the business operations of Laika.
Laika, president and CEO, Travis Knight said, “Brad brings a powerful voice and vision to LAIKA’s leadership team. As we embark on our second decade as a company, Brad becomes my partner in guiding LAIKA to a bold new future and more awesome movies.”
At NBCU, Wald’s career included managing NBCU’s commercial activities surrounding Downton Abbey, in addition to working closely with distribution and home entertainment teams to expand the show’s global reach. Hence this experience of Wald might prove fruitful as Laika aims to expand its reach on the business front.
Having worked previously as managing director and senior VP, Europe, Middle East and Africa, at Comcast International Media Group, Wald began his financial career at Arthur Andersen and had progressive financial roles at Paramount Pictures, Turner Pictures and Videotron’s OpTel too.
Creating content like Kubo and the Two Strings, Laika has definitely progressed on the animation front and now with Bradley Wald taking the lead, a progress in expansion can be much expected.
