Kids’ channels bring in the New Year with favourite shows

With just a day to go for New Year, kids’ channels have lined up a throng of special programmes to entertain the young audience just before they resume school. While most channels have been showing special episodes and new episodes all through Christmas break, the New Year is also not going to be ignored.

Kids watching Disney Junior will see new episodes of Sofia the First on 1 January 2015 while Disney XD will have new episodes of Ultimate Spiderman. Hungama will have special episodes of Vir: The Robot Boy.

Nick has been running prize activities since Christmas and while it doesn’t have any special shows for New Year’s Eve, it will bring in the new year with its recently acquired property Oggy and the Cockroaches in a new avatar.

On Pogo, a Filmy New Year stunt will happen from 1-4 January 9 am onwards. Chhota Bheem and other Bollywood titles will be showcased along with a ‘watch and win’ contest. Turner Broadcasting that operates Pogo as well as CN has lined up several new shows from January including redubbed episodes of Courage the Cowardly Dog, new episodes of Ben Ten, revamped Haddi mera Buddy on CN and Shaktiman, new episodes of Chhota Bheem and Ninja Nontuon Pogo.The Sun Network is treating kids to a wide repertoire of shows and events from New Year’s eve. Tamil kids channel Chutti TV will have Lassie from DQ Entertainment, Beet Party, Disney’s Hannah Montana, Bommi & Friends and movies Mars Needs Moms, Air Bud and Avengers.Malayalam channel Kochu TV will have Stuart Little marathon at 7 pm and a two hour special family film Jet Li in White Snake Revenge. On 1 January an event ‘Ithiri Pattukarum Othiri Pattukulam’ will begin from 10am with child prodigies Sandra, Shreya and Famis. Evening will see a new year bash party at 6pm filmed at Cochin with dance, singing, acrobatics and magic.

‘Dhamaka Celebration’ will take place on Telugu channel Kushi TV as well as special movies Little Big Soldier and Chronicles of Narnia. Kannada channel Chintu TV will see Lassie, Beet Party, Lanfeust Quest and Hannah Montana.
