The Kerala cabinet government has approved an AVGC-XR (animation, VFX, gaming, comics, extended reality) policy.
Under the policy, the state promises to create and expand 250 AVGC-XR companies, create 50,000 jobs in the sector by 2029, produce 10,000 qualified professionals in the industry and account for at least 15 per cent AVGC content created in the country.
To realise this goal, the policy has chalked its goals, vision and objectives. Under these objectives, the state plans to develop state-of-the-art AVGC-XR Parks and Labs, set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for talent development and innovation, leverage Kerala Fiber Optic Network (KFON) for high-speed internet and intervene at school and college levels to train students.
Apart from digital infrastructure and talent development, the policy provides monetary and non-monetary benefits for AVGC content creation as well as capital to creators and studios. The policy has listed benefits and incentives for startups.
This policy endeavours to present a comprehensive overview of the current status of the AVGC-XR sector in Kerala and aims to foster its development within the state.
