Jurassic World, fourth part of the Jurassic Park series has claimed stake as the third position in the all time global box office by grossing a whopping $1.522 billion worldwide overtaking Marvel Studio’s 2012 superhit The Avengers that had grossed $1.520 billion then.
Jurassic World has set several box office records after its debut on 12 June, 2015. It broke the record for highest opening weekend, with $208.8 million, beating Marvel Studio’s, The Avengers three-year record of $207.4 million. It was also the fastest film to break all the $100 to $500 million box office milestones. Jurassic World also set an ultimate record for highest opening week ($296.2 million), highest per-screen average for a wide release ($48,855) and also the biggest second weekend ($106.5 million). ‘Steven Spielberg’s fourth part of the Dino- oriented series’ has also been the highest grosser of all time just behind both the ‘James Cameron’ superhit flicks, Avatar ($2.78 billion) and Titanic ($2.18 billion).
Jurassic World was set 22 years later after the Jurassic Park events on the same island of ‘Isla Nublar’ near Costa Rica. The island now featured a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond (Richard Attenborough).
Directed by Colin Trevorrow, ‘Jurassic World’ along with the new starcast, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, it also has a new star cast amongst the dinosaurs, Indominus Rex, a genetically modified dinosaur. The special effects and VFX of this Hollywood superhit flick has been done by the ‘Industrial Light and Magic’ (ILM).
The sequel is set to hit screens on 22 June 2018, with the cast of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning to portray their respective roles. Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly will script the film but Trevorrow won’t be helming the sequel but will serve as an executive producer for the sequel along with Steven Spielberg.
