Nickelodeon has appointed James Stephenson to the newly created position of senior VP, animation and games – adding animation production and development to his current responsibilities of digital content creation. Stephenson will be based at Nick’s animation studio in Burbank and report to Russell Hicks, president of content development and production for Nickelodeon Group.
In his new role, Stephenson will guide current series creative and have oversight of day-to-day operations for animation development, short form, series and games, ushering in a new production model for the studio aimed at expanding Nick’s development and production capabilities.
His previous title was SVP of content development – digital media, and he was responsible for the creative development of the company’s websites, apps, digital platforms and premium games publishing businesses.
Stephenson joined Nickelodeon in 2008 as SVP, creative director, digital; overseeing creative development for all digital media. And prior to this he was VP of digital creative – product development at MTV Networks. Earlier, Stephenson was creative director at Atom Entertainment.
