CITV that ran a week of Horrid Henry episodes this summer shall be airing a back to school weekend on 5 and 6 September totalling over 100 episodes of the forever loved series.
The digital arena is a huge area of growth for Horrid Henry. The show is available through Netflix in the UK and on both Hulu and Netflix in the US and there are a number of releases of Horrid Henry episodes on iTunes. The dedicated Horrid Henry website – horridhenry.me – features exclusive content that is exponentially growing in popularity, with over 121,000 members and more than 2 million visits. The new ‘Horrid Henry’s Big Box of Pranks’ app hit iOS and Android this month and a new line of clothing and double DVD pack ‘Horrid Henry’s Big Holiday’ are now also available at retail from July .
Novel’s three times BAFTA-nominated TV show has been a huge success for CITV and the brand has been extended to include film, stage, radio and online as well as being at the heart of a successful licensing and merchandising programme. The show is consistently the most watched programme for the CITV channel and has a significant and growing social media following.
Horrid Henry is based on the characters created by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross; the books are published by Orion Children’s Books. He has become a worldwide publishing phenomenon, available in 27 countries including the US, with sales exceeding 20 million books in the UK alone. Translated into 22 languages, Henry has assumed many different national identities including the gloriously named Pablo Diablo in Spain and Rico Le Peste in Italy.
