Another year and we’re already seeing signs that game developers from around the world are showing no signs of slowing down in their bid to release some seriously iconic titles.
From exotic online slots titles to amazing open-world innovations, it looks like 2016 is going to be a year to remember thanks to some of these exciting releases.
The one game that’s got everybody talking is No Man’s Sky. When this game comes to the PS4 in June it’s expected to truly achieve the open world promise that has been such a large part of the next gen console hype.
Since last July gamers have been caught up with the excitement generated by the six minute trailer of No Man’s Sky that revealed lush and vibrantly coloured alien worlds that are expected to push the PS4 to its limits.
But it’s not just the next gen consoles that have been captured by the fever of technological innovation, as iOS and Android gamers can appreciate the latest mobile gaming innovations with the highly anticipated release of République.
This episodic stealth action game was already a huge hit on Steam machines last year. And its mobile release manages to upgrade the tense action in much the same way as Cleopatra has become one of the most famous slots at Mr Smith Casino thanks to the way it has reinvented the gambling game in a user friendly format that can be enjoyed on a smartphone with some spectacular payouts.
But it’s not just online slots that have had a 21st Century revamp in 2016, as even the pioneering fantasy game Warhammer has managed to escape its board game origins thanks to the upcoming Total War: Warhammer release.
When it lands in May, it’s expected to be one of the year’s biggest hits for Windows and Mac machines thanks to the way in which it manages to blend the turn based gaming success of the Total War series with the fantasy motifs of the already-successful Warhammer franchise.
And finally Square Enix looks to continue their excellent run of form by following on the acclaim of Hitman with the release of Final Fantasy XV. This promises to provide Xbox One and PS4 gamers with a ‘darker and edgier’ instalment of the hugely popular RPG franchise.
However, the game is still only rumoured to be released in September, and so until then, gamers will have to keep themselves entertained with online slots and open world adventures.
