And it is Inside Out for another accolade, as the Disney Pixar feature bagged the Best Animated Feature Award at the 43rd annual Annie Awards held on 6 February, 2016 at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Out of the 36 categories, Inside Out emerged victorious in 12 categories.
Surpassing a tough competition from nominees like Anomalisa, Shaun the Sheep Movie, The Good Dinosaur and The Peanuts Movie, Pixar’s ‘Inside Out stood out’ from the rest and won the title. Directed by Pete Docter, this film focuses on a unique concept of personification of various emotions. Besides animation, the music angle of the film composed by Michael Giacchino was also appreciated for its distinct style.
The new category Best Animated Feature-Independent introduced for the first time witnessed Boy and the World winning the award. Directed by Ale Abreu’s, this Brazilian animated film has struck the emotional chord through the art of storytelling as it is a part of the Oscar nominations too.
World of Tomorrow topped the Best Animated Short Subject category thus rising above Disney Pixar’s Sanjay’s Super Team which was a significantly tough nominee in the race. Directed by Don Hertzfeldt, this animated short speaks a scientific fictional tale.
The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, declared the winners among the several nominations that were chosen in various categories across mediums.
